In May 2016, artists John McNaughton and Joan Kempf DeJong unveiled Bent Twig, a 22-foot-long, 8-foot-high sculpture on the University of Southern Indiana’s campus. Positioned in front of the Griffin Center, near Reflection Lake, the artwork was commissioned by USI as a reflection of both the present and future of the university.
Bent Twig was constructed by Evansville Sheet Metal Works (ESMW), showcasing the team’s skill in turning artistic visions into lasting structures. The sculpture’s form, which embodies growth and progress, symbolizes the university’s evolution and aspirations. ESMW’s expertise in fabrication helped bring this concept to life, ensuring the piece would stand as a prominent feature of the campus for years to come.
